Dear SVAMC Members,
As you know, SVAMC conducted its First Annual All-Member Meeting on April 30th at Farella Braun + Martell in San Francisco. With Gary and Chris, I want to thank Rod Thompson and his team for hosting the meeting. A thank you to Bill Seward and Amy for their great assistance in planning the All-Member Meeting. Also, thank you to each member who attended. There was a real sense of community at the meeting with colleagues greeting each other and participating in spirited discussion on contemporary ADR issues.
At the All-Member Meeting, we had three terrific panels. The first panel, moderated by Sarah Reynolds (SVAMC), included Victoria Sahini (Associate Professor of Law, ASU, Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law), Rod Thompson (SVAMC) and James Blick (Director, Head of US Operations, The Judge Global) and they discussed the topic of “Third Party Funding Comes to Tech Arbitration and Mediation.”
The second panel, moderated by Gary Benton (SVAMC), featured Janet Martinez (Faculty Director, Gould Negotiation and Mediation Program, Stanford Law School), Claire Morel de Westgaver (SVAMC-YP Steering Committee and Senior Associate, Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner) and Alexa Austin (Corporate Counsel, AMN Healthcare) and they discussed the topic of “Technology in Arbitration and Arbitration in Technology- New Perspectives.”
The third panel, moderated by Yarko Sochynsky (SVAMC), included Steve Gilbert (SVAMC), Liz Snodgrass (Partner, Three Crowns, Washington DC), Kathleen Paisley (Partner, Ambos Law, Brussels), and Steve Andersen (Vice President, ICDR) and they discussed “Smarter, Faster, and Cheaper- Can You Get All Three in Tech Arbitration?”For your interest, included is a collection of photographs from the meeting.
