2023 New York Arbitration Week – SVAMC Tech Debates

November 13, 2023 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

Join SVAMC and Foley Hoag for two engaging debates during the 2023 New York Arbitration week.

Debate 1: AI will be beneficial to the practice of arbitration, with appropriate guardrails
Is AI the arbitration practitioner’s friend or foe? This debate will cover not only the principle, but also possible guardrails to make AI useful in arbitral proceedings. Can the draft SVAMC Guidelines on the Use of AI in International Arbitration turn AI into a friend for all of us?

Debate 2: Arbitrators should permit witnesses to appear
Should arbitrators permit witnesses, including third party witnesses, to appear remotely at arbitration hearings? Has the law in that area evolved since COVID, and what other considerations should arbitrators take into account?
