AI and the Arbitrator: Drawing the Line Between Assistance and Delegation

November 10 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Where should arbitrators draw the line between using artificial intelligence for support and delegating their core decision-making responsibilities?

On November 10, SVAMC and Jus Mundi will present the third webinar in their joint series, featuring Annie Lespérance, Co-Chair of the SVAMC AI Task Force and Head of Americas at Jus Mundi, and Abdi Aidid, SVAMC Board Member and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.

The conversation will examine ARIHQ v. Santé Québec, a 2026 Quebec Superior Court decision setting aside an arbitral award that relied on nonexistent authorities attributed to AI. Speakers will explore:

  • When AI assistance becomes improper delegation
  • What meaningful human verification of AI outputs requires
  • Whether disclosure and ground rules protect the integrity of an award or create additional procedural friction

Date: Tuesday, November 10, 2026
