Grant L. Kim

Grant L. Kim is an independent arbitrator who previously worked for over 35 years at leading law firms in San Francisco, Seoul, and Tokyo. He has handled over 70 arbitrations as an arbitrator oe counsel. He has also served as counsel in numerous lawsuits in the U.S. courts involving patents, copyrights, trade secrets, and other intellectual property.

Mr. Kim excels at navigated the complex legal, technical, and factual issues presented by disputes involving cutting-edge technology and intellectual property. He has experience with a wide range of technology, including biotechnology, computer software and hardware, smartphones, semiconductors, medical devices, and mechanical devices. He has authored numerous articles regarding international arbitration and intellectual property and frequently makes presentations on these subjects at conferences in the U.S. and Asia.

Mr. Kim is a Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He is a member of the arbitrator panels of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution, American Arbitration Association, CPR International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution, World Intellectual Property Organization, Singapore International Arbitration Centre, KCAB International, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, and Beijing Arbitration Commissions.

Before going solo, Mr. Kim was a partner at a Global 50 law firm (Morrison & Foerster in San Francisco); helped to build the international arbitration practice of a top Korean law firm (Kim & Chang); and served as a partner at a leading business boutique (LimNexus). He also served as a Staff Attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Kim is based in San Francisco and has appeared in arbitrations in the United States, Asia, and Europe.
