Philipp Groz

Philipp Groz is a partner at the Swiss law firm Schellenberg Wittmer. He is the head of the firm's IP team and the co-head of the life sciences team. He has 20 years of experience in representing clients in domestic and international litigation, arbitration and mediation proceedings with a focus on disputes related to technology, IP, trade secrets, unfair competition, licensing, distribution, and product liability. He regularly sits as an arbitrator and has acted as presiding, sole, and co-arbitrator. Philipp also assists clients in drafting and negotiating licensing, R&D, distribution, and other agreements, and he advises on IP aspects of transactions.

Philipp is listed as a neutral with the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center and is a board member of Licensing Executives Society Switzerland. He serves on the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Advisory Committee and on AIPPI's Standing Committee on ADR. He is recognized, inter alia, in the Lexology Index Arbitration rankings as a leading practitioner at the cross-section between IP and arbitration, and in Legal500 as a leading partner in IP and Life Sciences. He regularly speaks on publishes on matters related to IP, life sciences, licensing and IP-related arbitration. In 2023, he received the LMG Life Sciences Award EMEA as "Licensing & Collaboration Lawyer of the Year".

Philipp graduated from the law school of the University of Zurich (2001) and earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from NYU Law (2007). He was admitted to the Zurich bar in 2004. His working languages are German and English.
