Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Dana Welch has been a domestic and international arbitrator since 2002. In that time, she has been appointed as an arbitrator over 400 times and rendered over 100 awards. Her practice includes trade secret and IP licensing and contractual disputes. She is on the AAA complex commercial and employment panels, as well on the ICDR panel and the CPR and Singapore International Arbitration Centre rosters.
Before becoming a neutral, Ms. Welch was the General Counsel of a technology-focused investment bank, Robertson Stephens, and a litigation partner at an Am Law 50 law firm. She was the founding executive director of the Berkeley Center for Law, Business, and the Economy at Berkeley Law School, UC Berkeley, her alma mater, where she graduated Order of the Coif (top 10%) and received the award for the 1987 graduate who best represented the qualities of an advocate and a scholar.
She is the 2024-2025 president of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and was the 2023-2024 president of CalArb, Inc. She has been listed since 2022 in the "Best Lawyers in America®" for Arbitration and in "Who's Who Legal" as one of leading practitioners of commercial mediation. She is a Northern California Super Lawyer in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
